The Writing Process

With some services, they'll take your information from a form, process the document and return it to you without ever speaking with you directly. At AARS, we believe that the only way to craft a powerful marketing tool is to take the time to get to know you and understand the skills, talents and strengths that have made you successful. That's why we conduct in-depth interviews BEFORE we begin writing.

Here's how it works:
  1. Your Certified Professional Resume Writer (CPRW) will partner with you throughout the writing process. He/she will begin by conducting a confidential, in-depth interview to learn from you what your career goals are, identify your strengths and key skills and select those accomplishments which best represent your talents and abilities.
  2. After understanding what your career objective is, your CPRW will craft a targeted document that utilizes key words relevant to your specific industry, creates a professional presentation and is easy for the reader understand. Keep in mind that your CPRW is writing to your target audience, and that's not you. Your target audience consists of HR professionals, executives and recruiters whose job it is to find qualified candidates.
  3. In two to four business days, an initial draft will be emailed to you for review. We ask that you proof your document to ensure that all the information was captured and presented correctly. If you have any questions, modifications revisions, etc, your CPRW will work with you and answer your questions, explain strategies and make the edits to your document.
  4. Typically, your document can be finalized within this first round. Some documents, however, are more complex and may require a few drafts. Your CPRW will work with you throughout this process to finalize the language in your resume so that you are comfortable using this document to market your strengths, experience and skills to prospective employers.
  5. Once you have approved the final version of your resume, you will still have 14 days to make further refinements. In this case, please contact Rich McDonald.
  6. In addition to receiving your final resume document in an MS Word file, we will also prepare and send you an ASCII version. An ASCII, or plain text, format is typically requested when applying online.
We provide our clients with ongoing support even when the writing project is completed and are here to answer any question regarding your resume, the job search process, interviewing, etc. Our mission is to empower clients to achieve their career potential.
